aKNITdote began as neurotic knitting in response to the pandemic and has served as a healing mechanism for many. Anticipating a jubilant fanfare of color, tassels. and baubles in the light of day transported present day anxiety towards the excitement of surprising the general public after a midnight dash of knitted displays. Sneaking out at night to install my knit goods in public became a treat for the community and now a mania! With over 100 public projects installed in surrounding communities including hospitals, schools, and private commissions, these colorful exhibitions have given people hope, laughter, and encouragement for a new day. Bridging a traditional artform such as knitting with a bold public, unapologetic display has given these works a fresh future. Operating under the handle "yarnbalmer", it has been liberating to fly above the radar to continue to display my work without asking for permission and ultimately connecting many people through positive responses. Amiable street art is a welcome offering to a trying environment for future positivity.
